Installing charging points at your business? There are two separate routes to reduce your investment: tax investment deductions via the Dutch Tax Administration (Belastingdienst), and the SPRILA subsidy via RVO. They are independent of each other.
1. Tax benefits (investment deduction)
For charging stations as business assets, the small-scale investment deduction (KIA) and the environmental investment deduction (MIA/VAMIL) are relevant. You deduct part of the investment from your taxable profit. The energy investment deduction (EIA) does not apply to charging stations themselves, but does apply to battery storage, for example. MIA and EIA cannot be combined on the same investment; KIA can.
Please note: the MIA/VAMIL application must be received by RVO within 3 months of entering into the commitment. Percentages and threshold amounts change every year — always have your situation checked by your accountant or tax advisor.
2. SPRILA subsidy for businesses
The Private Charging Infrastructure at Businesses Subsidy Scheme (SPRILA) is intended for entrepreneurs registered with the Chamber of Commerce (KVK) who install private charging infrastructure on their own or leased premises. In 2026 you can apply from 20 January 09:00 until 18 December 12:00. SMEs receive higher subsidy amounts, provided you include an SME declaration.
Some amounts (2026, SME / large company):
• AC dual charging station from 2× 11 kW: €1,600 / €800
• DC charging station from 50 kW: €9,760 / €4,880
Please note — the timing of your application is crucial:
• Expect less than €25,000 in subsidy? Then have the installation done first and apply afterwards, within the same calendar year or within 13 weeks of completion.
• Expect more than €25,000? Then apply for the subsidy first, with an unsigned quotation. If you place the order before applying, you lose your right to the subsidy. A signed quotation counts as a placed order.
• The subsidy amount must be at least €2,500 per location.
