The registration of kWh for ERE certificates with the NEa (Dutch Emissions Authority) must be carried out by an accredited registration service provider. The registration service provider submits the kWh for ERE certificates on behalf of the connection holder. The connection holder is the contracting party of the grid connection (energy contract) to which the charging station(s) is/are connected. This can be a private individual, a company or a homeowners' association (VvE).  of the EAN grid connection . The connection holder is also the party that receives the proceeds arising from the ERE certificates.

Who is ultimately entitled to the payment depends on the agreements between the parties involved. Consider, for example, agreements between a tenant and a landlord, between an employer and an employee, or between a VvE and residents.

For registration it is important that the charging station has a MID-certified meter and that the kWh charged are recorded annually.
