How does the ERE scheme fit into the energy transition?

The energy transition is the shift from central, fossil-based energy generation to decentralised, green energy generation. A charge point is increasingly becoming part of the home's energy system. Think of: solar panels, home batteriessmart chargingdynamic energy contracts and feeding energy back to the home or the grid (vehicle-to-grid). It is the interplay of all these elements that will make up our future energy system. A kilowatt-hour from your own solar panels that is charged directly (and decentrally) into the car is structurally cheaper than grid electricity.

The ERE scheme reinforces that movement, because charging itself now also generates a direct financial return. The scheme compensates locations (private individuals, homeowners' associations (VvEs) or companies) where electric charging takes place and makes oil companies pay for it. After all, oil companies are obliged to offset their emissions via ERE certificates.
